Cosplay Plans for 2012
I know there’s still a couple months left in the year, but I’m already starting on my costumes for 2012 — My first con on the year is the first weekend of January, so I need to be ready to go! I have to say, that if all goes as planned, this will be my most ambitious year yet! There’s one for KumoriCon 2012 that I haven’t posted, but that’s for later. ^_~ This is it for now, and the last three are a bit iffy, and dependent on how things go as it gets closer.
Oh Tumblr. I know I have neglected you. My brain has been preoccupied with things such as re-organizing, planning for future cons, and planning for moving. I have more to write, but not the time. For now, have a look at some of the first costumes I’m planning for 2012! (there will be more, this is only the beginning) What makes THESE costumes FOR SURES: I already own a large portion, or at least a significant piece, of the supplies for them.
I never thought this would happen, but, I just had a HUGE break-through on how I want to do Garnet’s wig! It was completely accidental. Here I was clearing out my cosplay closet, in hopes of re-organizing, and picking out some articles to sell. Unfortunately, this means trying on every wig I own. So, first, I tried on a shorter wig — it’s an “Always Sexy” from Amphigory, in a dark brown. And here I’m thinking to myself, god, I LOVE these bangs, and the fluff in them. These would be perfect for Garnet. …I wonder if I could sew them into a longer wig or something…
So then I grabbed the extra dark-brown Cher I had lying around. The two browns do not match, and the length of the Cher is not enough for Garnet, but I sjut wanted to get a feel for it. So, I laid the cher on top, bringing the ‘hairline’ to where I would want the bangs to ‘stop’ —
And this was the result. I am absolutely in LOVE — the added FLUFF from the shorter wig underneath help give the wig on top that fuller crown, and I don’t have to sacrifice ANY of the thickness of the wig, for the bangs. SO! I’m going to buy an Always Sexy in the right color of brown, and then buy either of Godiva or Enchantment in the same color, and sew the longer wig RIGHT ON TOP of the shorter wig. I am SO EXCITED by this, you guys, you have NO IDEA!
